Description
These traditional Andean watanas, or ties, were used to show love to family members. They were tied into a daughter’s hair, draped onto brides and grooms outfits, etc… Each bead is added with a prayer and is connected to the stars. They can also be used to wrap wrists or any other use imaginable.
These ties are woven by the Chinchero Shaman at the Center for Traditional Textiles in Peru.
